I was fortunate to retire after a long career a few years ago…I hope everyone can experience retirement. Now I volunteer for many groups, officiate track and field, and help with grandkids.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am a widower and have raised 2 sons. I have 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
7 years ago, I was fortunate to retire from GE Healthcare after working for 40 years. I was the fleet manager for the company, taking care of over 6000 vehicles nationwide.. I loved my job and the interaction with all facets of the automotive industry. I was fortunate to travel all over the US meeting many employees from GE who were my drivers, as well as auto related industry folks.

Love the pizza at Jays! Fish fry at Morningstar

We moved from New Berlin to Vernon when my sons, Dan was 7 years old and Andy was 6 months old, and now they are 38 and 32!

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I was most fortunate to get involved with the most active volunteer group in the area and met wonderful folks such as Craig Vertz, Scott Gillette, Chris Walker and a host of others. Somehow it is not work but fun when involved with these folks to accomplish great tasks for the community. Their passion for the area shows in everything they do and makes me want to do my best.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would like to take a river cruise around Greece or Italy.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My all time favorite movie is The Sound of Music. It takes me back to my childhood and going to the theater to watch it with my Mom and Grandma…always a tingle in my heart. Otherwise a lot of Hallmark channel….I am pulled into the happy things they portray. Sappy but true.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
It is so important to volunteer and give back. There were times when I could not volunteer to the extent I wanted to, being a single mom, and someone was doing it so my boys could benefit…whether it was Scouts, coaching Park and Rec teams, etc. It then became time when I could give back and do so by volunteering with FOMA, Braves, Concession Stand coordinator, Christmas Fantasy House and even at my sons bar/restaurant. I hope folks in the community would give at least an hour a month to some type of volunteer work . It means a lot to the area and the kids.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Never have had a bucket list.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Favorite song is Forever Young by Rod Stewart….words make me tear up when relating that to my boys. Really do not have a favorite group.

Elegant Farmer and picking fruit and veggies.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I miss my girlfriends weekly golfing group….as all are now living in various places in the state making it difficult to get together often. We would golf and dine at Morningstar and solve all world problems and laugh non-stop.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
