“I’m just a mom from Mukwonago.” I grew up in New Berlin and graduated from high school in 1984. After high school I attended UW-Milwaukee and graduated with a degree in Educational Studies. After college, I married, my middle school crush who became my high school sweetheart, Dan. After 2 kids and 10 years of marriage we moved to Mukwonago where we had the best neighbors… “Hey Walt”. Four years later with the birth of our daughter our family was made complete. When we moved to Mukwonago, I wanted to get connected with the community so I started volunteering right away at Mukwonago Nursery School and church. I love God and I love people, and for the last 15 years serving at Brooklife has given me the opportunity to do both.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Dan and I have been married 34 years. We have 3 adult children, Joe, Jacob and Anna. All three kids went through Mukwonago schools. Jake and Anna, like their parents, both met their spouses in high school. For the Scheibe’s, everything’s a competition from playing bags in the back yard to building gingerbread houses at Christmas. Someone always has to win! No matter the season we love spending time together especially at Pelican Lake.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
No matter where I’ve worked it’s always been about mentoring and helping people. Whether my role is teaching, directing in a childcare center, or serving as a pastor, I desire for people to see themselves as God sees them, and I encourage them to become the best version of themselves. I started my career in corporate childcare, moved to being a self-employed, early childhood education consultant, and then somehow found myself as a pastor at Brooklife Church.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Often you will find me having blueberry tea with a friend at Espresso Love. Nothing’s better than walking across the Brooklife parking lot for a lunch buffet at Chen’s. And if I don’t want to plan a party but want to see many friendly Mukwonago faces, all I have to do is have dinner at Fork in the Road (I highly recommend the Greco-Italian Salad!)

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Looking for a great school district for our kids we moved to Mukwonago in 1994 just in time for our oldest to start preschool. We’ve lived in the community for 28 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Oh my goodness, there are too many to pick from.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
This one’s easy. I want to take a cooking class in Italy! The architecture, the history, the art, the vineyards, the food!

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I’m a romantic so a good Rom-Com is what we watch, if I get ahold of the clicker first! And I can’t pick a favorite movie: Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, While You Were Sleeping or Proposal. They are all tissue and popcorn worthy. Our entire family, including Grandma and Grandpa, are Seinfeld junkies. Name the episode, we’ve got the line.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
The world is incomplete without your contributions. As Mr. Rogers said, “If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Dan and I taking a hot air balloon ride in Red Rock Canyon.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Journey

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The place that comes to mind immediately and brings a smile is Sentry Drugs. On many a summer afternoon the boys would hop on their bikes, I would put Anna in the stroller, and off we would go with 25 cents in each of their pockets for 5 pieces of candy. We were there so often the clerks knew us by name.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would love to pick up lunch and pie from Elegant farmer and enjoy it with Jill Briscoe on the patio at my home. I’d love to have her share her story, her faith journey.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love how non-profits, businesses, and churches connect to support the needs in our community.

Q: What have you done to make Mukwonago a better place?
I’ve been a good neighbor. When there was a need I said, “Sure, I’ll help.” Whether it was someone in the neighborhood, a friend, any of the preschool – high schools, or the church, I just helped wherever I could.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Dan and I still living in the community enjoying the simple things like a cup of coffee….Hopefully finding more time on the lake, or on a hike, ………

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I gave beginner piano lessons and held their piano recitals at Linden Grove.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Dan and I spent our honeymoon in Maui and Kawaii. Both islands were gorgeous. The water, coral, flowers, sunrise, sunset, volcano’s were all amazing.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Fourth of July – Our whole family at Pelican Lake. We spend time on the water, time BBQing, and enjoying fireworks all around the lake.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Joe, Jake & Anna, and Anna & Caleb over for dinner and game night.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Dan always encourages me to chase my dreams and believes I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
My Mom’s homemade pumpkin pie, and Lilacs on a beautiful spring day

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
1) My happy place. 2) A place Dan and I create for our family and friends to feel welcomed. 3) Sunrise with a cup of coffee, my Bible, and my journal.
