I am honored to serve as the Superintendent of the Mukwonago Area School District. My wife Lauren and I along with our four children moved to the community during the summer of 2023. We felt at home immediately.
About Joe Koch
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Lauren and I have been married for 16 years and have four children, Lily, Maddie, Greg and Charlotte.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have been an educator for 22 years, serving as a special education teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools, Kettle Moraine School District and the Port Washington Saukville School District. I served as an assistant principal and director of pupil services in the Denmark School District, director of pupil services in the Cedarburg School District and the deputy superintendent in the School District of Waukesha. Each of these positions has brought something new to me. The part of my job that I enjoy the most is to see the positive impact that an education has on our young people.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Wake up early and get your workout in before the sun rises.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Ending my career in the Mukwonago Area School District and planning my retirement.
Q: What have you done to make Mukwonago a better place?
Daily, our educators make a positive impact on our young people. It is my job to ensure they have the resources and training to do so.

Fork in the Road-Caesar Salad, Badger Burger-all of their burgers are great, Jay’s Lanes-Pizza!
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Chris Stapleton, David Allen Allen’s-I enjoy his music and would like to talk about his writing process, Ret. Admiral William McRaven, Fork in the Road-I admire his leadership and would want to discuss leadership with him, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Fork in the Road-I believe Dr. Peterson is one of the greatest thinkers of our time and would enjoy and opportunity to have a conversation with him.

Alaska, I have never been and I would like to see all that it has to offer.

Each interaction that I have had as a person and a professional has contributed to who I am today. If we keep our eyes and ears open, we can learn a lot.

December, Christmas, I enjoy the cold weather and the time with my family.

Make a contribution to the church, food pantry and women’s shelter.

The smell of a meat market.
