Hello, I’m Nicholas Johnson 32 years of age, owner of Freedom Garage. I’ve been a GM tech for 8 years and now started a new shop that gives people a great place to go and save money on their repairs.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have a beautiful family with my wife Leah Johnson, we have 3 amazing kids Ava(8), Beau(4) and Emma(7 months old)

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’ve worked at a few different places.  I spent 8 years at Boucher Chevrolet as a tech and engine builder a general.  I also worked at  a couple CNC companies as a CNC operator.  I am now the owner of Freedom Garage. What I love the most is the enjoyment I see on people faces when they get their cars fixed and excitement when they hear the prices.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Boneyard.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I lived here from 2014 to 2016 then moved back in 2022.  Mukwonago such a great area to live.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Met my wife in Mukwonago back in 2014.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Would love to visit Italy, Germany, or England because of their rich history and automotive history.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Movie – Six Pack.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
If you have a goal in life and sometimes those goals are to hard too achieve, so make smaller goals until you achieve the main goal.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Build a race car.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Anything country.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Won-A-G0 Biking.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Tony Stewart.  I grew up watching him race so many different types of race cars.  I  love what he was doing for the sport and all the different business ventures he was involved with.  I would eat at Boneyard.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
My favorite thing is the Mukwonago School District and the most unique is the trolly that goes from Mukwonago to East Troy.

Q: What have you done to make Mukwonago a better place?
Giving people a great place to go for automotive repairs.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Having a bigger, better shop here in Mukwonago.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know I want to drive a race car.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Florida

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
July is my favorite month.  The 4th of July best day and holiday.

C16 race gas and the racetrack.
