My name is Alicia, and I am a Kindergarten Teacher at Clarendon Ave Elementary. I live in Vernon with my daughter Cienna who is 15 and a Sophomore at MHS and my son, Sal who is a 7th grader at PVMS. I have two dogs, a Pomperanian Violet and a French Bulldog, Archie. We love to see new places and try new things. I enjoy watching them play sports (Soccer, Lacrosse, and Hockey). I have lived in the community my whole life and have enjoyed being active in the school community as a parent, and now a teacher.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Currently I am a Kindergarten teacher at Clarendon Avenue Elementary. I love spending my days teaching the children of our community. They keep me on my “toes” and bring me so much joy to see how they learn, play, and grow. Before becoming a kindergarten teacher I worked as an aide at Clarendon and at Big Bend Elementary. I also taught dance in Mukwonago and Elm Grove and served on the Board of Wisconsin Dance Masters.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Fork in the Road

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I grew up in the Mukwonago community and have enjoyed raising my family here as well.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
The most interesting person I ever met in our community was my late grandmother, Gerri Lory. She did many things for our community, taught many children and adults dance and loved what she did with passion. I was so lucky to have her a part of my life.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I have always dreamed of going to Italy to enjoy the rich history and see where my family is from.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favorite movie is Hocus Pocus. It brings back a lot of fun memories from my childhood. My favorite tv show is Criminal Minds.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Each day before my kids go to school I tell them to be kind; we never know what someone else is going through. I think if we can be conscious of this every day we can make a difference.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I really want to see the Northern Lights some day!

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I am a chronic flipper! I can never just pick one band; it all depends on my mood.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Elegant Farmer. Walking through the front doors brings me back to my childhood. It is still the same inside as I remember it. The memories of picking strawberries, apples, pumpkins and taking the Trolley into East Troy and back will always be a favorite memory from my childhood. When I visit now, it takes me back to those days!

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would love to meet JoAnna Gaines. Why? She seems so kind, and down to earth. Her recipes are amazing, and I love her style.  And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch? Fork in the Road

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love how many community events we have. Parades, Midnight Magic, Fall Fest, Farmers Markets, Maxwell Street Days and so much more! I love how there are always opportunities to get together as a community.

Q: What have you done to make Mukwonago a better place?
Being a Kindergarten teacher, even if I only have them for one year, I hope each student knows they are valued, and loved, and in turn will make a big impact on the future leaders of our community.

Still teaching Kindergarten! Having fun, enjoying life to its fullest, and traveling a little more.
