Your Name
Gabrielle Henning

What High School do you attend?
Mukwonago High School

Please highlight your accomplishments while in High School.
Over my four years at Mukwonago High School, I have received the Scholar Athlete award every year. I have been a part of S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) and Sting Cancer to make my school and community a better place. I have been on the Mukwonago Cross Country team as well as Track and Field team for 3 years. I take pride in the 9 AP courses I have taken at Mukwonago High School while maintaining a 3.91 GPA.

Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I live with my two parents, an older sister, Sophia, and two younger twin siblings, Lucas and Alyssa. I look up to my older sister, who will be graduating from Concordia University in 2024. She has accomplished a lot in her college career in terms of athletics, academics, and internships. My younger siblings, who are juniors in high school, are very good students who maintain 4.0 or near 4.0 GPAs while taking multiple AP classes. They take part in their community by participating in Key Club and the National Honor Society.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to move on to UW-Madison to major in both Political Science and Philosophy. I have always known that I want to take part in the judicial system, and I find criminology highly interesting. After going through undergrad, I intend to go through 2 years of law school and pass the Bar Exam. My overall goal is to become a criminal prosecutor.

What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal would have to be my mom’s homemade chicken pot-pie.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
If I had the opportunity, I would most definitely travel to Greece. It has always been a dream of mine to see the beautiful water and architecture that exists there. The stray cats that wander around everywhere are also an added bonus!

What are your favorite movies? TV shows?
The Office is the only thing that I watch in my free time. I think I have viewed every season 8 or so times…

Who was/is your favorite teacher/coach from any grade? Why?
Paige Wrecke, my cross country coach, is by far the most inspirational and supportive person I have met in my high school career. When I first began running my sophomore year, I could not make it one mile without stopping to walk. That same year, I became a part of the varsity cross country team. Mrs. Wrecke is passionate about what she does and knows exactly how to push the team to their limits. She is also my role model in daily life, because she is a strong, independent, and considerate person. I will miss her dearly when I move on to college.

What is your favorite thing to do in Mukwonago?
The place that I spend nearly all of my free time at is Accent on Dance Mukwonago. Dance is not just my favorite thing to do in Mukwonago, but my favorite thing in the world. I cannot imagine my life without it.

If you were asked to give advice to the younger students at your school, what would you say?
My advice to the younger students at Mukwonago High School is to enroll in challenging courses. I feel that the AP classes I have taken have prepared me, more than anything else, for college. They are a great opportunity to save money and give students a realistic view of what lies ahead of them in college. Additionally, the only downfall I foresee is not passing the AP Exam. Even if you do not receive college credit, you have had the experience of a college class, and the course is included on your college application.

If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
If I could have lunch with anyone, it would be former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. Although deemed a conservative justice, Kennedy was known to swing either way depending on the case. I have a lot of respect for the decisions Anthony Kennedy made, which set many of the precedents still in place in today’s law. Kennedy and I would meet at Antigua Real for some of the best Mexican food either of us has ever had.

What is your favorite thing about our community?
My favorite thing about my community is the safety I feel living in it. This comes from official officers as well as civilians who work together to make Mukwonago both secure and welcoming.

What have you done to make Mukwonago a better place?
The volunteer work I have done with my church and with Sting Cancer has made Mukwonago a better place. This includes door-to-door fundraising, gathering food pantry donations, and doing roadside cleanup.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I see myself working at a law firm. I’m married, settled down, and hopefully having my first child. I would love to live on quite a few acres of land with a ranch house and a few dogs and cats.

Have you ever had a nickname? What is it and why were you given it?
No one really calls me Gabrielle; everyone actually calls me Ellie. When I was younger my parents tried calling me Gabby or Brielle, but I didn’t respond. My grandma tried Ellie, and it stuck.

What are you passionate about?
There is nothing I am more passionate about than dancing. I’ve been dancing since I was three years old, and it has helped me discover myself in so many ways.

What is something on your bucket list?
Something simple that’s on my bucket list is to go to a concert. I am sad to admit that I have never been to one before. I would love to go see Zach Bryan in concert.

What is your go to band / singer when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Fleetwood Mac

Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
My favorite month is June. The best holiday, without a doubt, is Christmas. The best single day on the calendar this year is May 31st because it’s the last day of school.

What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
All of my beautiful friends are 10 out of 10s!

Who inspires you to be better?
My best friends Lauryn, Val, and Bella are constantly inspiring me to be better. I know that they will always be honest with me about my behavior and thinking. They will not hesitate to call me out when I am doing things that are both right and wrong. I am forever grateful for them!

Who would you like to give a Shout Out to that contributed to your success?
I would like to give a shout out to my entire dance group for contributing to my success. I have danced with most of them for five or more years, and I can trust any and all of them with my life’s problems. They have help push me both mentally and physically to be the best person I can be.
