I am Tom McKeever. I am a transplant form Iowa via Denver, CO. I grew up in Northwest Iowa in the relatively small town of Spencer. I attended the University of Iowa for 8 years- everything is a little slower in Iowa. My wife Pam and I moved to Mukwonago in 1991 where I joined Dr. Michael Connor in his dental practice. At the time, Mukwonago did not even show up on a Rand McNally Atlas! Mukwonago has changed a lot since then!

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My lovely wife Pamela is a school psychologist and together we have three children. Tyler is a dentist and is currently practicing with me at Mukwonago Family Dentistry. Tyler attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette Dental School. Alexis and Courtney our twin duo are both physician assistants. They both attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with Alexis getting her PA degree from the University of Des Moines and Courtney receiving her PA degree from the University of WI-La Crosse. They are both employed by Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We couldn’t be more proud of our children.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am currently a dentist at Mukwonago Family Dentistry. Prior to being a dentist I was pretty much a student and a summer laborer. For a couple of summers, I sandblasted and painted thinking that could be a fall back for me if the dentist thing didn’t work out. As far as future careers- dentistry is all I know. I love getting to know my patients on a personal level and keeping beautiful smiles on their faces. I have the most wonderful family of patients I could have ever dreamed of, most of whom I would consider friends. Hopefully they consider me a friend as well!

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
My go-to spots in Mukwonago are Fork in the Road and David Allen Allen’s.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Pam and I moved to Mukwonago almost 32 years ago and I have worked here since. This year our practice celebrates 50 years of treating the great people of Mukwonago!

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I’m going with Dr. Joseph Schmidt. Dr. Schmidt is the first person I met from Mukwonago. We were both doing residencies at Denver General Hospital in Denver, CO. Dr. Schmidt is a good friend of Dr. Connor’s and he introduced us. Dr. Schmidt grew up in Mukwonago and has an oral surgery office in Mukwonago. Joe is truly the finest individual you will ever meet. He has a long history in Mukwonago and is my resource if I am missing a branch of a family tree.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would like to go to Turks and Caicos. It looks like a beautiful place to visit especially when we are experiencing freezing weather.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
On Golden Pond. That movie is just an awesome example of two generations bridging the gap. As far as television shows: I try to not get hooked on a series but I’m looking forward to the new season of Yellowstone. The story is a bit unreal but so is the scenery.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Treat others as you would like to be treated. This is how I try to approach each day.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I have dreamed for years of learning to fly an airplane. For some reason, I have remained grounded

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
The Zac Brown Band

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Fickau Lumber. They were always my go to store for project advice and home project supplies.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Buzz Aldrin- one of the first two people to walk on the moon. His pioneering spirit and fearless approach to the unknown is something to be admired. We would likely meet at The Fork in the Road and meet in the small room in the front.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
As a business owner in Mukwonago, I enjoy crossing paths with my patients and love the interaction we have outside of the office. Something that is unique and often overlooked about our community is that the Mukwonago River is a “pristine” waterway and one of the most special waterways in the state.

Q: What have you done to make Mukwonago a better place?
I have tried to give back to the community in a variety of ways. Over the years, I have been involved in The Mukwonago Rotary Club, the Mukwonago Education Foundation, Phantom Lake YMCA Camp, Mukwonago Area Chamber of Commerce, Vernon Lutheran Church, and supporting the YMCA among others.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In 5-10 years, I see myself enjoying my hobbies with my wife Pam. She’s not big on hunting but I hope to get her fishing a little more often. I’m also hoping my golf game improves- the most interesting person I’ve met in Mukwonago is helping me with that. It would be awesome to have some grandkids by then to spoil-none yet!

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I’m at a loss. I talk too much. If it’s interesting about me I’ve talked about it.
