Please highlight your accomplishments while in High School.
During high school, I have been able to maintain a 3.5 GPA whilst devoting most of my free time to athletics and other activities. I have participated in high school football, basketball, and lacrosse as well as played club lacrosse in the summer for Alpha. I played basketball through my sophomore year but have played the other sports mentioned all four years of high school. During my football career for the Mukwonago Indians, I was a three year varsity player highlighted by a very successful senior season where our team made it to the state championship at Camp Randall but sadly came up short. I was awarded a ton of individual accomplishments that I could not have gotten without my amazing teammates. I was 1st Team All-Conference, Classic 8 Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All-State, Wisconsin MaxPreps Player of the Year, PrepRedzone Wisconsin Player of the year and also won Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year. I was the first in Mukwonago history to be named Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the year and did so while breaking numerous school records on the field. Playing Lacrosse as a Junior, I was named 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-State, and a US Lacrosse All-American while being the #1 voted midfielder in the state and am looking to build on that this spring!
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have a very caring and loving family that I am so thankful for. I come from a divorced family with my mom, Marnie Phillips, and my dad and step-mom, Ryan and Laura. I have 3 brothers Tripp who is a Sophomore, Ollie who is a 7th grader, and Benny who is in 4th grade. I love my family all so much and they are my biggest supporters and mean the world to me.
What are your plans after graduation?
I am being recruited to play college football or lacrosse by numerous colleges. At this point, I am still trying to decide what is the best opportunity for me to excel on the field and in the classroom.
What is your favorite meal?
Barbeque Ribs
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would travel to Hawaii because I have never been there. I want to feel the tropical weather and see a sea turtle swimming in the ocean.
What are your favorite movies? TV shows?
Some of my favorite movies are Star Wars, Pitch Perfect, and Batman. Some of my favorite TV Shows are Outer Banks, Parks and Recreation, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Who was/is your favorite teacher/coach from any grade? Why?
Mr./Coach Strickler who has been my Football Coach and Advisory teacher the past 4 years. He has always been there to support me and has had my back and treated me like one of his own throughout high school as well as being one of the coolest people I know.
What is your favorite thing to do in Mukwonago?
I like to go to Kwik Trip before a big game and grab some cheap delicious food and drinks.
If you were asked to give advice to the younger students at your school, what would you say?
Cherish every second of it and really live in the moment because everyone always says it flies by but saying it flies by is really an understatement.
If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Adam Sandler because as successful and famous he is he always stays down to earth and humble and I hear he is the nicest guy in all of Hollywood. I would take him to David Allen-Allen’s because I just know he could take down a rack of ribs.
What is your favorite thing about our community?
The support of one another and the way everyone in this community knows everyone.
What have you done to make Mukwonago a better place?
I have interacted with and hopefully inspired the younger generation of this town to be better student-athletes, to chase their dreams and to work hard.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I really don’t know right now but hopefully doing something I love and living life one day at a time.
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it and why were you given it?
Dang Stang because a TV reporter said it on the news after a football game and nobody will ever let me live it down especially Jim Fischer.
What are you passionate about?
Putting yourself in other people’s shoes and being kind not knowing what they could be going through.
What is something on your bucket list?
I would love to go to Alaska to see the Northern Lights.
What is your go to band / singer when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Zach Bryan.
Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
My favorite month is July because it is prime summer time and it is also the month of my birthday. My favorite holiday is Christmas. Being able to see all of my family is amazing and Christmas Spirit is something that cannot be matched.
What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
My beautiful girlfriend.
Who inspires you to be better?
My mom because she has been through the most of anyone I know. She still finds a way to enjoy life and be kind and loving to everyone.
Who would you like to give a Shout Out to that contributed to your success?
I attribute my success to every coach I have ever had. The have definitely had a diverse influence on me.
